A picture speaks a thousand words. So why is Endeavour Coaching represented by a pond? Read the following excerpt from my upcoming book.

Frog on a pond stepping stone.I have always held true that “today’s job is a stepping stone to tomorrow’s career”. I like to use the analogy of a pond with stepping stones. You start at one side of the pond and will end up at the other side of that pond, one day, it is inevitable. It is how you journey across that pond that makes the difference.

Frog on a pond with stepping stones and lillies.Today you stand at the edge of the pond, or perhaps you are on your first or second stepping stone. Perhaps you are just beginning your career, at school, further education or your first job. You see a stepping stone in front of you or just to the side, or you may see many stepping stones. This could be your next career move, professional development opportunity or further education. Also on this pond are lily pads and flowers. These are the other things in your life, your family, your hobbies, interests and passions. The entire pond contains the things that makes you, you. You may enjoy sport, music or volunteering for a community organisation. All these things, all of your passions, decorate the pond you are journeying across. One of your passions should give you an income.

Trees with one tree showing leaves in the shape of a love heart. If you have a “job” and trying to have a “work/life balance”, see if you can find a way to do something you love doing to provide you with an income and have what I simply call “a balanced life”. When you start earning an income from something you love doing instead of having a “job”, which most people don’t like, then every facet of your life becomes more meaningful.

A butterfly and dragonfly following stepping stones across a pond.Look ahead across the pond. What exciting stepping stones can you step on? Look back, each stepping stone is something you can add to your resume’ and should be seen as a great achievement and accomplishment. Your career may go sideways, forward, backward, but you need to make sure you feel safe and secure on your stepping stone and be passionate while you are there. If not, see what you need to do to take the next step to a different stepping stone in your career and what you can see around you which embellishes your pond and enhances your life. – Gaylene Kelso.
